Who We Are:

Chris Eaton: Founder and President of Bridge Builders

Chris in Thailand

Hobbies/Interests: Books, movies, backpacking (loved Glacier National Park), running, politics (has run twice for public office), the Florida Gators, traveling and allowing his life to be ruled by a yellow Lab named Bolivar!

Chris graduated from the University of South Florida (by way of the University of Florida, the University of New Orleans and the University of South Florida...let's say a very long senior year!). In 1984 Chris took a group of people to Haiti on a two-week trip that changed his understanding of the value of cross-cultural short term teams. Although the airline went out of business 3 days after their arrival (which makes for a great adventure) the participant's lives were profoundly transformed (as was Chris's wardrobe since his luggage never arrived, but that's another story). He learned from the trip that taking people out of their comfort zone to serve and learn is a tremendous opportunity for them to be stretched as individuals and challenged in their world view.

He is the co-author of Vacations With A Purpose: A Planning Handbook for Your Short-Term Missions Team, which is published by Bridge Builders and available on Amazon.com. The Leader's and Team Members Manuals are a valuable resource for any short-term team. Since 1987 been a frequent speaker and consultant for groups in the area of cross-cultural short term service projects. Having been involved with over 250 teams and over 4000 people Chris brings a wealth of information and experience to the table.
